Pre-configuration Service
At CustomLink, we do more than just supply products. We prepare systems so they arrive configured, tested, and better organised for installation.
Our Pre-Configuration Service helps save time, reduce setup errors, and ensure each system is prepared correctly before it leaves our workshop.
What We Do
Depending on the system, pre-configuration may include:
- Unpacking, configuring, and bench-testing devices before dispatch
- Updating firmware where required and applying recommended settings
- Setting up your mobile app, where supported, for live viewing and notifications
- Conducting quality assurance testing to verify core functionality
- Applying a tailored configuration where specific project details are provided with the order
When your order arrives, the system has been bench-tested and prepared to reduce on-site programming time while still allowing final setup to be completed at the site.
Important Details
Standard pre-configuration covers core functional preparation only.
It does not include site-specific configuration, final setup, or advanced integrations such as:
- Automation
- Networking
- Specialised Event Logic
Additional configuration, final setup, or integrations may be completed remotely or quoted separately.
Pre-configuration prepares the system before installation. Final setup adapts the system to the actual site environment.
Pre-configuration does not replace:
- Installer Verification
- Walk Testing
- Final System Checks
Actual system behaviour depends on site conditions, network environment, and correct installation.
Lead Times
- Small / Basic Systems: up to 3 business days before shipping
- Large or Integrated Systems, such as Ness M1 or Inception: 10+ business days, depending on complexity and workload
Returns Policy
Because pre-configured systems are individually prepared for each customer, orders cannot be cancelled, refunded, or returned once setup has begun, except in the case of a valid warranty claim.

Pre-Configuration Service Inclusions
CCTV Systems
Our Pre-Configuration Service prepares and tests your CCTV system before shipping, helping save time and avoid setup errors.
Standard Pre-Configuration Includes
Recording Setup
- Default: motion-based recording, recommended to save storage
- Optional: continuous only, or continuous plus motion on request
Network Setup
- Preparing network addressing for the NVR and cameras
- Final setup may later adjust addressing to suit the site network environment
Camera Features
- Enabling IR for night vision
- Enabling white light or deterrent light when detecting humans or vehicles, where supported
- Activating the siren or flashing light where applicable
- Enabling the microphone with your authorisation
Security Access
- Temporary PIN codes and passwords, to be changed after installation
Mobile App Setup
- Live viewing
- Playback
- Notifications
- Notifications should still be enabled locally on your device
Not Included in Standard Pre-Configuration
Advanced or site-specific features such as:
- Line Crossing
- Intrusion Detection
- Facial Recognition
- Number Plate Recognition
- Thermal Calibration
- People Counting
- Integration with routers, garage doors, gates, or lighting systems
These can be completed during final setup or through Paid Deep Dive Remote Support where more involved technical work is required.
Alarm Systems
Our technicians prepare your alarm system to support faster installation and reduce on-site programming time.
Standard Pre-Configuration Includes
Arming Modes
- Sleep / Stay
- Away / Full Arm
- Optional third mode for Ness M1 where applicable
Entry / Exit Settings
- Configured delays for entry and exit paths
Alarms & Notifications
- Internal and external sirens
- Flashing strobe during alarm
- Strobe and optional siren sounds during arming and disarming
Remote Controls
- Pre-configured key fobs and handheld remotes
Security Access
- Temporary PIN codes and passwords are to be changed after installation
Mobile App Setup
- Arming and disarming
- Triggering outputs such as doors, gates, or lights
- Alarm notifications
Not Included in Standard Pre-Configuration
Advanced integrations such as:
- Network or router connections
- Integration with garage doors, gates, or automation platforms
- High-level integrations with Clipsal C-Bus, Ness M1, or Inception
These can be completed during final setup or through Paid Deep Dive Remote Support, where more involved technical work is required.
Intercom Systems
Our technicians prepare your intercom for essential communication and convenience before shipping.
Standard Pre-Configuration Includes
Communication Functions
- Door-to-room communication
- Triggering outputs for electric strikes, gates, or lights
Network Setup
- Preparing network addressing for door and room stations
- Final setup may later adjust addressing to suit the site network environment
Security Access
- Temporary PINs and passwords, to be changed after installation
Mobile App Setup
- Communication with visitors
- Triggering outputs remotely
- Notifications for calls and alerts
- Notifications should still be enabled locally on your device
Not Included in Standard Pre-Configuration
- Integration with other systems, such as CCTV or alarm
- Site-specific network or router setup
- Gate, lighting, or automation linkages
These can be completed during final setup or through Paid Deep Dive Remote Support, where more involved technical work is required.
