Product Selection Guidance

You can start by choosing suitable cameras for each location, then add a compatible recorder, such as an NVR or Hanwha WAVE VMS licence, storage and related accessories as required.

Hanwha WAVE VMS requires a suitable server or PC to run the video management software.

Before choosing products, consider the areas you need to monitor, the number of cameras required, camera type, night-time viewing needs, recording and storage requirements, network layout, whether you need an NVR or VMS setup, and the installation layout.

CCTV Camera Selection Note

Different areas may require different camera types. For example, some locations may only need a standard camera, some may benefit from an active deterrence camera with warning lights or siren, and some may benefit from using a thermal camera that can provide both normal video viewing and thermal detection to send an alert when the temperature rises above the set temperature.

Hanwha Turret Cameras

Hanwha turret cameras may be used where a lower-profile camera style is preferred for general CCTV viewing and recording.

These Q Core AI Flateye models include 5MP and 8MP options, AI object detection, WDR and low-light viewing features depending on the model.

Hanwha Bullet Cameras

Hanwha bullet cameras may be used for general CCTV viewing and recording where a more visible camera style is preferred.

These models include 5MP and 8MP AI camera options, with fixed lens or motorised varifocal lens options depending on the model.

Hanwha NVRs

Hanwha NVRs are used to record, manage and connect compatible IP cameras.

Choose based on the number of cameras, camera resolution, recording requirements, PoE requirements, storage capacity, network layout and future expansion.

Check the NVR specifications for supported hard drive quantity and maximum storage capacity before adding storage.

Hanwha WAVE VMS

Hanwha WAVE VMS is video management software used to view, record and manage compatible IP cameras and connected devices.

WAVE is a flexible VMS platform that can work with many compatible IP network cameras from different manufacturers, helping bring different camera brands and supported devices into one video management system.

It may be used where a customer needs a flexible CCTV management platform instead of a standard NVR-only setup. WAVE can support customised layouts, user permissions, remote access, multi-camera viewing, I/O integration and future system expansion, depending on the system design.

Hanwha WAVE VMS requires a suitable server or PC to run the video management software. Licensing requirements depend on the number of cameras, I/O requirements, recording requirements, system design and required features.

Storage

Surveillance hard drives are used to store recorded CCTV footage in compatible NVRs, CCTV recorders or server-based recording systems.

Choose storage based on the recorder model, number of cameras, recording quality, frame rate, recording mode and how many days you need to keep footage.

Most NVRs and recorders have limits on the number and size of hard drives they support, so check the recorder specifications before adding storage.
