CCTV Camera Selection Note

Different areas may require different camera types. For example, some locations may only need a standard camera, some may benefit from an active deterrence camera with warning lights or siren, and some may benefit from using a thermal camera that can provide both normal video viewing and thermal detection to send an alert when the temperature rises above the set temperature.

Hikvision AcuSense Cameras

AcuSense cameras provide high-quality imaging with human and vehicle classification based on deep learning.

They are suitable for general CCTV where accurate person and vehicle detection is required, with low-light performance, WDR, weather resistance, and built-in microphone on selected models.

Hikvision ColorVu Cameras

ColorVu cameras are designed to provide 24/7 colour imaging under suitable conditions, using advanced lenses, sensors and supplemental lighting.

Some models may also include smart hybrid light, person and vehicle detection, two-way audio, built-in microphone, strobe light and audio alarm features to help improve security and deterrence.

Hikvision PTZ Cameras

PTZ cameras can pan, tilt and zoom to monitor larger areas and zoom in for more detail when needed.

Some models may also support human and vehicle classification, face capture, long-range IR, low-light performance or wide-area viewing. TandemVu models include an additional fixed camera above the PTZ camera, allowing a wider overview while the PTZ camera zooms in for detail.

Hikvision NVRs

NVRs are used to record, manage and connect compatible IP cameras.

Choose an NVR based on the number of cameras required now, possible future expansion, storage needs, PoE requirements and network layout.

Most of our NVRs come pre-installed with a hard disk. Before adding extra storage, please check the NVR specifications for the supported number of hard drives and the maximum capacity per drive.

Storage

Storage is used to keep recorded CCTV footage.

Choose storage based on the number of cameras, recording quality, frame rate, recording mode and how many days you need to keep footage.

Most NVRs have limits on the number and size of hard drives they support, so check the NVR specifications before adding storage.
