Ness M1 System Overview
A professional integrated security and automation platform for projects requiring more control than a standard alarm system.
The Ness M1 combines security, monitored access, automation, alerts, and system logic within one programmable platform. It is well suited to residential and light commercial projects where a more advanced and expandable system is required.
Capabilities described below depend on the selected hardware, programming, and final system configuration.
Demonstration videos are located at the bottom of this page. If you prefer to watch the system in action first, simply scroll past the collapsible sections below.

Overview
The Ness M1 is designed for projects requiring layered security, monitored access, and automation within one system.
It is ideally suited to projects where you want:
- Integrated alarm and automation logic
- Flexible control over alerts and system responses
- Future expansion capability
- Cleaner planning during construction-stage installation
The system can be configured to deliver different responses depending on the devices installed, operating mode, and project requirements.
Lighting & Automation
Where suitable interfaces are used, the Ness M1 can support:
- Remote control of connected lighting via mobile app
- Automated occupancy simulation when armed
- Lighting schedules based on time or sunset
- Automatic lighting shut-off through programmed rules
- Integration with supported lighting control platforms
Automation behaviour depends on installed devices, programming, and external integrations. Automated responses should be tested during final setup and are not a substitute for life-safety systems.
Access Control & Monitoring
Where access interfaces and monitoring devices are included, the system can support:
- Pedestrian gate control
- Vehicle gate trigger control
- Garage door trigger control
- Monitoring of doors, gates, and access points
- Status-based alerts for access devices
- Left-open alerts for monitored doors or gates
Any automated control of gates, doors, or garage systems must be installed with appropriate safety devices and in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
Detection & Alerts
The Ness M1 supports a layered approach to detection using intrusion sensors and monitored access points.
Configured devices can be programmed to trigger:
- Full alarm activation
- Voice alert only
- Lighting response only
- Combined alarm, voice, and lighting responses
Detection behaviour can vary depending on system mode and programming.
Detection devices help reduce risk, but performance may still be affected by installation conditions, environment, and maintenance.
Voice Alert System
Where voice speakers are included, the system can support:
- Indoor occupant alerts
- Outdoor deterrent announcements
- Event-based voice messages
- Mode-based announcements
- Access- or detection-triggered voice alerts
Voice alerts can be used as an early warning or deterrent layer before full alarm escalation.
Voice announcement performance depends on speaker placement, environment, and configuration.
Smart Camera Integration
Selected smart security cameras can be integrated to provide an additional detection layer.
Where supported cameras are included and configured, smart events can:
- generate notifications
- trigger lighting
- trigger voice announcements
- escalate to alarm conditions
Advanced analytics such as facial recognition or ANPR may also be used to trigger alerts, lighting, or automation where applicable and legally appropriate.
Where facial recognition or number plate recognition is enabled, operation must comply with applicable privacy requirements and signage obligations.
Camera analytics and AI-based triggers are assistive features only and should not be relied upon as the sole security or safety measure.
Mobile App Control
Where communication modules are included, users may be able to:
- Arm and disarm remotely
- Receive notifications
- Control connected lighting
- Trigger gates and garage doors
- View system status
Available functionality depends on installed modules, connectivity, and programming.
System Supply & Programming
CustomLink systems may be supplied pre-configured where applicable.
Programming may include:
- Pre-configuration before dispatch
- Initial rule setup
- Operating mode configuration
- Lifestyle-based fine-tuning
- Additional customisation where required
Remote configuration and support depend on site connectivity, installed modules, and third-party services. Some changes may require on-site attendance.
Installation & Compliance
All 240V electrical work must be completed by a licensed electrician in accordance with Australian standards.
CustomLink can provide guidance on:
- System architecture
- Wiring layout and best practices
- Detector positioning
- Access monitoring device placement
- Voice speaker positioning
- Camera integration planning
Final installation, electrical connections, and physical site work remain the responsibility of appropriately qualified trades.
Optional Support
Deep Dive remote support can be arranged where needed for:
- Installation assistance
- Final setup
- System tuning
- Advanced configuration
- Integrations
- Complex troubleshooting
Video 1 — Outdoor Intrusion Alert with Voice Warning
This example shows how the Ness M1 can respond when suspicious activity is detected outside the home. Voice speakers play a warning message, alerting the occupants inside while the system provides an early warning layer before full alarm escalation.
Video 2 — Leaving Home and Coming Home Automation
This example shows how the Ness M1 can simplify daily routines by automating selected actions when leaving home and returning. Depending on the system design and programming, this may include arming and disarming, lighting control, blind control, gate and garage access, status checks, and timed voice warnings before closing actions.
Video 3 — Remote Intercom, Delivery Access, and Arrival Lighting
This example shows how the Ness M1 can support remote intercom response, controlled access for deliveries, and automated lighting for visitors arriving at night. Depending on system design and programming, selected outdoor areas can be temporarily managed while maintaining protection across the rest of the property.
