Licensing & Installation Compliance

CustomLink provides professional system design, product selection guidance, configuration, final setup guidance, remote support, and training for security and automation solutions across Australia.

All physical installation work must comply with applicable Australian laws, regulations, standards, and licensing requirements.

1. Installer Licensing Responsibility

Australia-Wide Requirements

Licensing requirements may vary between Australian states and territories.

Depending on the location and scope of work, licensing may apply to:

  • Security system installation
  • Cabling work
  • Security equipment advisory services
  • Access control installation
  • Alarm installation
  • CCTV installation

The installer, electrician, cabler, tradie, contractor, or other person performing the work is responsible for ensuring they hold any licence or registration required for the work they carry out.

CustomLink provides system design, configuration, final setup guidance, and technical support. Physical installation, cabling, and installation compliance remain the responsibility of the installer performing the work.

2. Queensland-Specific Requirements

Under the Security Providers Act 1993 (Qld), two key licence types may apply.

Security Equipment Installer Licence

This may be required for physically installing security equipment such as:

  • CCTV
  • Alarm systems
  • Access control devices
  • Related security hardware

Security Adviser Licence

This may be required for providing professional advice such as:

  • System design
  • Product selection
  • Device placement
  • Security recommendations
  • Risk assessments
  • Decision-making on behalf of the client

When an Adviser Licence May Not Be Required

A Security Adviser Licence may not be required where a person is only carrying out physical installation work and is not providing security advice, recommendations, or decision-making to the client.

CustomLink’s Licensing

Where applicable, CustomLink provides professional security system design, recommendations, advisory services, and configuration under its own licensing.

The installer performing the physical work must operate under any cabling, installation, security, electrical, or trade licence required for their part of the work.

3. Responsibility for Installer Selection

By purchasing, supplying, or arranging installation of any system, you acknowledge responsibility for ensuring that an appropriately licensed installer is engaged where licensing is required.

You also acknowledge that CustomLink is not responsible for:

  • Unlicensed installation work
  • Non-compliant installation work
  • Defective physical installation performed by third parties

4. Warranty & Setup Limitations

Improper, defective, or unlicensed installation may:

  • Void part of the warranty
  • Cause system malfunction
  • Prevent final setup
  • Require rectification before support can continue
  • Require paid Deep Dive support or reinstallation

CustomLink is not responsible for delays, faults, or setup limitations caused by non-compliant or defective installation performed by others.
